What I earned, what I saw in TWMU and Japan!! ...

It was May 6, 2016 noon I reached Tokyo, Japan and from next day to end of month I had a memorable stay in Tokyo and Tokyo Women’s Medical University (TWMU). How time flies! Four weeks have passed so quickly in the country of peace, the country of dawn.

It was a dream in my childhood that one day I will be in Japan. During my graduation period I dreamt to be a Plastic Surgeon. Five years ago, when I was a MS - Plastic Surgery thesis part student in Dhaka Medical College Hospital under Dhaka University, renowned Plastic Surgeon Prof. Hiroyuki Sakurai Sensei visited there; and we learned various aspects about the critical part of Plastic Surgery.
After a long my dream came true! It has been years I wished to see the live work of Prof. Sakurai and the department he runs.

I convey my heartiest thanks to Prof. Hiroyuki Sakurai Sensei, the nucleus of the department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of TWMU, for whom I was inspired to go there and gathered some practical knowledge.
“The Root of Plastic Surgery lies in its Reconstructive heritage!” -There I saw the appropriate and critical application of reconstructive surgery. Specially some microsurgical reconstruction after cancer extirpation in tongue, nose, breast and post burn contracture release. These operations were eye opener for me! I appreciate the efforts of the anesthesia team for smooth recovery after such type long operation. Discipline, academic discussion, doctor-patient relationship, counseling pattern and keeping patient record system were also very impressive for me. Nurses and all other medical staff co-ordination were remarkably good.

Time flies very fast! These four weeks were actually very short period to see varieties of operations. But what I observed, what I gathered and learned will be helpful and surely make some changes in my professional practice. And as well as the Plastic Surgical services in our department.
I enjoyed Japanese food, their culture and helping attitude of the people. I visited some places at the weekend. I visited the historical city ‘Hiroshima’. Tears were rolling down from my face when I saw the preserved uniforms, cloths, tiffin box of the A-bomb burn victim school going children in the “Hiroshima peace Memorial Museum".

I enjoyed the natural beauty of Miyaji Island. I was in mountain Fuji also. Wow! It’s amazing!!
Finally, again my cordial respect and gratitude to Professor Hiroyuki Sakurai Sensei, for whom I was there. Thanks to Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department and TWMU authority for giving me such special type of training facilities. Thanks to Y Yamamoto Sensei, H Ito sensei, Hajji, Mogami and all other doctors working together. Special thanks to my native junior Dr. Saneat who accompanied me everywhere and made everything easier for me.

I am also thankful to JBMA, for showing their attention to my presence in TWMU.

Thanks to Professors secretary Maiko Kunimi for her uninterrupted communication from beginning to the end of my training! Thanks to Department’s secretary Shionoiri for helping me a lot in making my tour plan and rescheduling my return flight.

Really a memorable, enjoyable and effective time I have passed in TWMU and Japan in last four weeks.
